The sit-in protest of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi against inflation, unjust governmental policies, Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and uneven tax regime, has entered into the third day, with the JI leadership expressed its resolve to further expand the scope of the protest if demands are not met.
Addressing a press conference outside the Governor's House - the venue of the sit-in protest, JI Pakistan Ameer, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the party has opened a new chapter in the history of peaceful political resistance against injustice in the country.
Suggesting a way forward, he demanded of the government to immediately withdraw the tax slab recently levied on the salaried class as part of Confidence Building Measure (CBM) in order to avoid a snag in negotiations.
