Justin Timberlake's Driving Privileges Revoked in New York DWI Case
Justin Timberlake's driving privileges in New York have been suspended following a court hearing related to his June DWI arrest. T
he musician, who appeared virtually from Antwerp, Belgium, pleaded not guilty to a revised misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence during the hearing held on August 2, 2024.
Timberlake appeared in court via Zoom, dressed in a black collared shirt. Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace presided over the hearing and revoked Timberlake’s driving privileges in New York, though the duration of the suspension remains unclear. Timberlake's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., described the suspension as "standard with every DUI case."
Burke also withdrew a previous motion to dismiss the case and faced criticism from Justice Irace for comments made to the press. Irace cautioned Burke against making statements that could prejudice the case and threatened to impose a gag order or require Timberlake’s physical presence in court if such comments persisted.
The next court session is set for August 9, with a tentative follow-up date of September 13 depending on the outcome of the upcoming hearing.
At Timberlake’s previous hearing on July 26, Burke asserted that the singer was "not intoxicated" at the time of his arrest on June 18 in Sag Harbor, New York. Burke criticized the police for what he described as "significant errors" in the case and expressed confidence that the charge would eventually be dismissed.
Timberlake's arrest also included citations for running a stop sign and failing to maintain his lane. The Sag Harbor Police had alleged that Timberlake was driving under the influence when they stopped him in his 2025 BMW. Following the arrest, Timberlake was held overnight and released on his own recognizance.
