LAHORE:

Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan, has challenged her arrest in the third Toshakhana case in the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking action against the Adiala Jail superintendent and women employees over their alleged humiliating treatment while arresting her again rather than releasing after her acquittal in the Iddat case.

The petition filed through senior lawyer Sardar Latif khan Khosa requested the court to declare illegal the petitioner’s arrest in what it termed a fabricated Toshakhana case and abort any other false inquiries, investigations, reference, FIRs and detention orders.

The petitioner made respondents the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP), Adiala Jail superintendent, the Punjab government through the home secretary and the federation of Pakistan through the interior secretary.

She submitted that she was physically assaulted, heckled and pushed by female staff of the jail when she was rearrested in another case. She contended that she had nothing to do with the case.

She contended that her sentence in the earlier Toshakhana case had been suspended, bail allowed in the Al Qadir Trust case and she had bene acquitted in the Iddat case on July 13.
