CDA approves 27 kanals of land for varsity

Board meeting also gives go-ahead to modernise Capital Hospital

ISLAMABAD:

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board has approved the allotment of 27 kanals of land for the construction of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Science and Technology (SZABIT) University and initiated plans to modernise the Capital Hospital.

The board meeting, held on Tuesday at the CDA headquarters, was chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. All board members and other senior officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the board approved the implementation of the federal maternity and paternity rules in the CDA. Similarly, medical insurance policies for employees were approved. The allotment of 27 kanals of land in Sector H8 for the construction of SZABIT University was also approved.

CDA Chairman Randhawa emphasized the need for timely and high-standard completion of ongoing development projects in Islamabad. He directed the Engineering and Works Department to ensure no negligence and to improve the quality of work. He stressed that directors of all projects should be fully self-motivated, warning that any omissions would not be tolerated.

The meeting was particularly directed towards the under-construction Park Road widening project. The chairman insisted on its prompt completion without compromising on quality, keeping public convenience in mind. A suggestion for partial inauguration of the Park Road project in the next two weeks was not approved. Instead, the chairman directed that one or two lanes be opened for public use while planning for a complete inauguration only upon 100% project completion.

The Works and Engineering Department briefed the chairman on the latest status of the Park Road expansion project.
