'Family Guy' announces Glen Powell as guest star in Halloween special at SDCC 2024

The 'Family Guy' panel also offered tantalizing teasers for Season 23, slated for midseason.

During the "Family Guy" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, fans received a double dose of exciting news. Glen Powell, the rising star from "Twisters" and "Hit Man," will guest star in a Halloween special airing exclusively on Hulu on October 14th. Powell will voice Patrick McCloskey, the reigning champion of Quahog's annual Pumpkin Contest, whom Peter and his friends aim to dethrone.

The panel, which celebrated the show's 25th anniversary, also offered tantalizing teasers for Season 23, slated for midseason. Expect parodies of "The White Lotus," "Top Gun," and "Alone," along with bits on the Supreme Court and George Santos. The season will also feature Stewie discovering his stuffed bear Rupert's origins in China and a hilarious sequence of Lois and Stewie getting high together.

Voice stars Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Jennifer Tilly, Gary Cole, and Mike Henry joined executive producers Rich Appel, Alec Sulkin, Steve Callaghan, and Kara Vallow for the panel. Borstein even serenaded the crowd with a Lois Griffin rendition of "What Was I Made For" from the "Barbie" movie.

Fans will have to wait until midseason for Season 23, marking the first time "Family Guy" hasn't aired in the fall since 2005. In the meantime, the Halloween special featuring Glen Powell and Derek Jacobi as Stewie's beloved teddy bear Rupert should tide them over.
