At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Marvel Comics revealed its latest project during the X-Men: From the Ashes Panel.
Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, alongside several X-Men creators, announced an exciting addition to the X-Men universe—a new solo series titled Psylocke. This ongoing series will debut in November, featuring Alyssa Wong as the writer and Vincenzo Carratù as the artist.
Wong, renowned for their work on Star Wars: Doctor Aphra and Deadpool, will craft the storyline, while Carratù, known for his work on Dracula: Blood Hunt, will provide the artwork.
The series will align with the character’s role as established in Jed Mackay and Ryan Stegman’s X-Men #1. In this new era, Psylocke will navigate missions that extend beyond the X-Men’s standard operations, drawing on her complex history.
Psylocke, originally Kwannon, has evolved into a key character in Krakoa's narrative, featuring prominently in titles such as Hellions and Uncanny Avengers. The upcoming series will delve into her past with the Hand and introduce new adversaries, including the villainous Taxonomist.
Fans can expect to see Psylocke’s journey through dark and intense storylines as she balances her role as a hero with the more sinister aspects of her past.
Wong commented on the character's journey, stating, “Everything in her history points her to the path of a villain. Her background is so full of tragedy—so why does she choose to be a hero?”
They added, “This is a dark emotional character story. But it will also be a ton of fun as well. I’m excited to do something super dark.”
