Powerful monsoon system set to bring heavy downpours to Karachi next week

Anticipated rain will bring a significant weather shift to region, offering much-needed relief from heat

News Desk July 27, 2024

The Meteorological Department's Early Warning Centre has forecasted the arrival of a powerful monsoon system in Sindh on the night of July 28, which is expected to bring a significant weather shift in the region.

Between July 29 and 30, Karachi is expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rain, with some areas possibly witnessing torrential downpours.

Contrary to the prediction, the PMD department earlier anticipated light rain, drizzle, and occasional showers to persist for three days in Karachi.

The forecast indicates that the monsoon system will likely trigger thunderstorms and rain across various districts of rural Sindh from the evening of July 28 until July 30.

This weather change is set to bring much-needed relief from the heat but also necessitates caution due to the potential for heavy rainfall and localised flooding.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period.
