The cast of What We Do in the Shadows is preparing to conclude the series with its sixth and final season.

Earlier this week, FX announced the final season will premiere on October 21. The cast shared their reactions to the show's end during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Actor Matt Berry and executive producer Paul Simms recounted the moment they learned of the series' cancellation on Christmas morning. Despite the surprise, Mark Proksch noted that the announcement did not significantly alter the mood on set.

He expressed satisfaction with the series' longevity, stating, "You don't want to overstay your welcome and you don't want to become a parody of yourself. And I think six seasons in this day and age is just [phenomenal]."

Kristen Schaal, however, voiced a different perspective, suggesting that the show could have continued. "There's so much to explore in this world," she said. Despite her wish for more episodes, Schaal agreed that ending the series on a high note is a wise decision.

The final season will feature 11 episodes, airing on FX and streaming on Hulu the following day. What We Do in the Shadows was created by Jemaine Clement and is based on the 2015 film. The show follows four vampires in Staten Island as they navigate human society.

The series stars Harvey Guillén, Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch, and Kristen Schaal. It has been nominated for eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including outstanding comedy series.
