PTI worker Anila Riaz sent to jail on judicial remand in assault case

In her initial statement, Riaz says she had no premeditated plan to harm actor Tahir Anjum

A local court in Lahore has sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Anila Riaz to jail on judicial remand in the assault case involving actor Tahir Anjum.

On Wednesday, the PTI worker with others stormed a vehicle and assaulted the actor while he was passing by the party’s hunger strike camp outside the Punjab Assembly.

Anila claimed that Anjum had been posting derogatory videos aimed at tarnishing PTI founder Imran Khan's reputation, labelling him a "terrorist."

Today, Judicial Magistrate Naeem Ahmed presided over the hearing, during which the police presented Anila Riaz before the court.

Despite the police's request for a physical remand, the court denied this and ordered a judicial remand, sending the accused to jail.

In her initial statement to the police, Anila Riaz confessed that she had no premeditated plan to harm him.
