Five killed as car slams into motorbike

Three motorcyclists among deceased

DASKA:

At least five people were killed and two others injured after a speeding car hit a motorcycle in the Dholan area of Daska.

According to witnesses, the accident was caused by the high speed of the car and negligence of its driver.

Early in the morning, 24-year-old Usman, 19-year-old Gulfam and 22-year-old Sawar, who worked in a factory, were going to Motra from Bhalwal after completing their duty when the speeding car hit their motorcycle from the rear.

Due to the collision, the car also got out of control of the driver and skidded off the road.

As a result, the vehicle was destroyed.

Two passengers of the car and the three motorcyclists died on the spot.

The two passengers of the car who died were identified as Adnan Gujjar, 25, and Ali Sher, 35.

Rescue 1122 teams confirmed the death of the five victims on reaching the spot and shifted the bodies to the Daska Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital.

News of the deadly accidents spread gloom among local residents.

A police spokesperson later told the media that one of the victims travelling in the car, Ali, was wanted in several cases of murder.

The spokesperson said several cases of murder and attempted murder had been registered against the deceased at the Agoki police station. The police had declared him wanted and formed teams to search for him, but he had evaded arrest before falling victim to the road accident. A police official said he had been nominated in at least three murder cases during the past three years.

The official said then decased had evaded arrest by escaping abroad each time after committing the murders along with his gang.

The Daska police registered a case of the accident on the complaint of the father of one of the victims, Usman.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed sympathy and condolences with the bereaved families. She appealed to the people to follow the traffic rules.
