Lahore rain disrupts traffic as water accumulates on roads

PMD forecasted further rain over next 24 hours, suggesting that city may experience more showers soon

Lahore experienced a pleasant change in weather due to light and heavy rainfall across various parts of the city. The ongoing rain in different areas has resulted in water accumulation on several roads, disrupting traffic flow.

According to the rainfall data released by WASA Lahore, Jail Road received 8.5 mm of rain, while the Head Office in Gulberg recorded 6 mm.

Other areas saw varying amounts of rainfall: 24 mm at Lakshmi Chowk, 6 mm at Upper Mall, 7 mm in Mughalpura, 3 mm in Tajpura and Nishtar Town, 10 mm at Chowk Nakhuda, 27 mm at Pani Wala Talab, 15 mm in Farrukhabad, 45 mm in Gulshan Ravi, 32 mm in Iqbal Town, 24 mm in Samanabad, 3 mm in Johar Town, and 26 mm at Qurtaba Chowk.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted further rain over the next 24 hours, suggesting that the city may experience more showers soon.

Earlier, the city was caught in a state of uncertainty as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) presented conflicting forecasts regarding the monsoon rains.

According to the PDMA, heavy rainfall is expected in most districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. On the contrary, the Met Department reports that the monsoon system is weakening across Punjab, including Lahore.
