LAHORE:

A petition challenging the government’s decision to authorise the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to intercept citizens’ phone communications was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday.

Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) head Advocate Azhar Siddique filed the application in the high court, arguing that allowing the spy agency to tap phone calls contradicts the constitution and judicial rulings.

He contended that obtaining court permission was essential for tapping any phone call, and such authority could not be exercised without it.
