Eminem, the renowned rapper known for his candid lyrics and emotional depth, has dedicated his new song "Temporary" to his 28-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. The track, part of his latest album "Death of Slim Shady," was released on July 13 and has already captured the hearts of fans worldwide.
The song opens with Eminem addressing a question about his fears. "A lot of people ask me, am I afraid of death? / The truth is, I think what scares me the most is not being able to say all the things I wanna say to you when I'm no longer here,” he raps. This touching introduction sets the stage for the song’s heartfelt message. “So, this song is for Hailie, for when that day comes.”
Throughout "Temporary," Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, envisions Hailie's life after his passing, assuring her that his love and support will continue beyond death. "And, sweetie, be strong, I know I was your rock," he raps. "And I still am, saying goodbye is just not / Ever easy, why you crying? Just stop / Hailie, baby, dry your eye, this is not forever.”
The song features singer Skylar Grey and includes adorable voice recordings of Hailie as a toddler, adding an extra layer of intimacy and nostalgia. Eminem’s devotion to Hailie is evident, as he previously expressed in tracks like “Hailie’s Song” and “Mockingbird.”
Beyond his music, Eminem’s love for his daughter is clear in his actions. He was by Hailie's side during her intimate wedding ceremony to Evan McClintock in May. Reflecting on her special day, Hailie shared on Instagram, "so, so many happy tears were shed. Laughs & smiles were had, & so much love was felt. Evan and I are feeling so grateful for all of the family & friends that traveled to support us and be a part of this new chapter of our lives as husband & wife."
Eminem also shares two other children with his ex, Kim Scott: Alaina, 31, and Stevie, 22. The rapper’s ability to blend personal experiences with his music continues to resonate deeply with his audience, making "Temporary" a standout track in his new album.
