Hilaria Baldwin, wife of actor Alec Baldwin, is demonstrating unwavering support for her husband as he faces a criminal trial over the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film 'Rust.'

After attending the first day of the trial in New Mexico alongside Alec's siblings, a source close to the couple revealed that Hilaria plans to be present throughout the proceedings.

"Alec wants her there. She's incredibly supportive and will be at the trial every day," the source shared with PEOPLE. "It's stressful for them both," but Hilaria remains confident in Alec's innocence.

The couple, who have been married since 2012 and share seven children, were also seen together during jury selection.

The trial stems from the tragic incident on October 21, 2021, when Hutchins was fatally shot and director Joel Souza was injured by a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin. Baldwin maintains his innocence, stating he did not pull the trigger and was unaware of the live ammunition in the gun.

Alec has pleaded not guilty to one charge of involuntary manslaughter and could face up to 18 months in prison if convicted.

This trial follows the sentencing of 'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed to 18 months in prison for involuntary manslaughter, a decision that reportedly caused Alec stress and worry.

During his opening statement, Alec's attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that Alec had committed no crime and was acting within the normal practices of actors on a film set involving weapons.

Hilaria's presence and support throughout this difficult time underscores the couple's strong bond as they navigate the legal proceedings and await a verdict.
