Rapper Lil Durk has broken his silence regarding the shocking incident where his 10-year-old son allegedly shot his stepfather, Joshua Pippens, during a domestic dispute.
The altercation, captured on video, shows the intense moment when the child, dressed in a red t-shirt and shorts, grabbed a gun from Pippens and fired it.
Pippens, dressed in orange, was seen attempting to restrain the child's mother, dressed in purple, before the shot rang out, causing him to fall to the ground.
From his hospital bed, Pippens defended his actions, claiming he was not the aggressor and suggesting that the child acted under his mother’s influence.
"As y'all can see, I was not the aggressor," Pippens stated on social media, adding that the child grabbed the gun from his hip following his mother's lead.
Despite the incident, Pippens expressed love for the child, lamenting that the boy was only acting based on his mother's actions.
In response to the incident, Lil Durk took to social media to address the situation and emphasize the importance of family.
"Family is everything. In these tough times, we need to stick together and support each other," the rapper posted on X.
He also urged his followers to refrain from jumping to conclusions, noting that legal processes are in place to address the situation appropriately.
"Let the authorities do their job. My main focus now is to support my family and ensure the safety and well-being of my children," he added.
Lil Durk, who has seven children, acknowledged the complexities of family dynamics and the challenges that come with co-parenting.
He expressed hope that the situation would be resolved amicably and stressed the need for privacy during this difficult time.
"We are all human, and we all make mistakes. It's important to learn from them and grow stronger as a family," he wrote.
The rapper’s fans have shown overwhelming support, flooding his social media with messages of encouragement and solidarity.
As the investigation continues, Lil Durk remains focused on his family, ensuring they have the support and love needed to navigate this challenging period.
