Penn Badgley and Brittany Snow are reportedly not set to reprise their roles in the sequel to John Tucker Must Die, currently under development.

On an episode of the podcast Podcrushed hosted by the You star, the former co-stars mentioned that they have not been contacted about returning for the second film.

Snow remarked, “Penn, I don’t know if you’ve had a call, but I’ve gotten no call.”

Badgley responded, “Yeah, I’ve had no call, no. I mean, it’s maybe possible like the superposition quantum physics, like everything is potentially within the realm of, like, maybe this apple will fall up, I actually can’t say with certainty.”

The Gossip Girl actor acknowledged his relatively minor role in the original film compared to Snow, Jesse Metcalfe, Arielle Kebbell, Sophia Bush, and Ashanti.

He's uncertain if he truly fits into the sequel, though it seems more fitting for the Pitch Perfect star.

She jokingly told her co-star, “I’m not doing it if you’re not doing it.” He responded, “Never have I even thought of that as a potential thing. But I guess if there was a script, I would read it.”

Is there going to be a John Tucker Must Die sequel?

Metcalfe, Kebbell, and Bush announced at Epic Cons Chicago, as reported by People, in March that a script for a potential sequel exists. Metcalfe mentioned hearing rumors about the screenplay for the second movie being "amazing," although he hadn't had a chance to read it himself at the time.

Kebbell, involved in crafting the script, mentioned that it includes the entire original cast and explores the possibility of Metcalfe's character undergoing positive personal growth.

In the Podcrushed episode, Snow mentioned, “I have been talking to Arielle about this for years because she was trying to get it off the ground, but I didn’t know what happened.”

“And it kind of just, I was like, ‘Go forth with that.’ But so, that was the last I had heard of it, was that she was trying to make it happen. And so I guess she did? So, yeah, I will read whatever people [send me]. They’ve worked really hard.”
