Kesha is set to celebrate Independence Day with the release of her new single, "Joy Ride," on July 4. This track marks the first release on her own label, following a series of teasers featuring impromptu photo shoots at various US gas stations. Confirming the release on social media, Kesha wrote, “You’re right, I am a bitch.⁣ JOYRIDE ♡ 7/4,” accompanied by a snippet of the new single.

Kesha, known for her hit "Your Love Is My Drug," signed with Kemosabe Records at the age of 18 in 2005. She has been embroiled in legal battles in recent years regarding her contract with the label. After nearly two decades, she has completed her obligations and is now free to release music independently. “First day I’ve owned my voice in 19 years. Welcome,” she announced on social media earlier this year.

The singer has launched a new website and sent out a newsletter to her fans, stating, “Animals. I’ve waited for this day for more than half of my life. All of my adult life. There is so much more that I have to say, and experiences we have to share. This is the time for our joy ride. We made it… and I wasn’t alone thanks to each of you. Thank you. So much is on the horizon… But for now… Freedom. I’ve been waiting for you.”

"Joy Ride" follows her 2023 album "Gag Order," which RETROPOP described as “a bold, defiant statement” destined to become her magnum opus. Fans can pre-save "Joy Ride" ahead of its release.
