Melanie Griffith weighs in on daughter Dakota Johnsons's new romance with Role Model

Griffith addressed the relationship while speaking to photographers and relayed what she thinks about Role Model

Melanie Griffith has publicly expressed her support for her daughter Dakota Johnson’s relationship with singer Role Model following recent appearances by the pair.

Griffith addressed the relationship in a video shared on DeuxMoi’s Instagram account, where she was approached by photographers and asked whether the couple had her approval. “Of course [they] do,” she said, before adding, “I think he’s fabulous.”

Johnson was first linked to Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, in December 2025 when the pair were seen dining with friends. Since then, they have continued to make public appearances together, including a date night on April 5.

The relationship follows Johnson’s split from her former fiancé, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, in mid-2025 after an on-and-off relationship spanning eight years. Despite maintaining a private profile, Johnson previously shared her views on relationships in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Role Model was previously in a relationship with social media personality Emma Chamberlain between 2020 and 2023

Griffith’s comments reflect a supportive stance towards her daughter’s new relationship.
