Bridgerton's casting director has been bombarded with X-rated audition tapes as the show prepares for its fourth season. Kelly Valentine Hendry, who has worked on the show since its 2020 debut, revealed on the "Should I Delete That?" podcast that she's received a constant stream of unsolicited videos from hopeful actors.
Hendry, 47, said the videos are "not actual sex but it's quite punchy" and are often accompanied by explicit messages. She added that her inbox is constantly "90 percent" full of emails from aspiring actors looking to join the show, which is renowned for its steamy sex scenes.
The casting director revealed that many of the aspiring actors are hoping to land the role of Sophie Beckett, the love interest of Benedict Bridgerton, despite the role not being officially confirmed. Fans of the show believe that season 4 will focus on Benedict's love story with Sophie, and the casting call for a "major recurring role" has sparked speculation about the character's identity.
Hendry said that the character is scripted as an East Asian female and will involve nudity and scenes of a sexual nature. Fans are speculating that the character could be Sophie Beckett, with some even suggesting that the role could be played by actress Jessie Mei Li.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for Bridgerton season 4, but showrunner Jess Brownell has hinted that the show will follow a two-year pace, suggesting a 2026 release.
