HYDERABAD:

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has asked Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to disclose its confidential agreement with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) with regard to appointment of Governor Sindh.

The party's Sindh president Nisdar Khoro made this demand in a statement issued on Tuesday.

In a rejoinder to MQM-P's press conference, Khuhro said a party which in the past was working on an agenda of carving a new province in Sindh with the name of Jinnahpur is accusing the PPP's founding leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto of dividing the country.

He reiterated that MQM-P is also responsible for creating an urban and rural divide among people of the province, recalling that recently the party had affixed banners in Karachi with slogans that alleged occupation of Karachi by people of rural Sindh is unacceptable.

He contended that MQM-P remained an ally in the government of late Gen Pervez Musharraf, PML-N and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf during the last three decades but it never practically worked to end the quota system.

Khuhro claimed that even while supporting the PML-N's incumbent government MQM-P made no agreement with the ruling party to end the quota system. "So why is there a sudden outcry made against the quota system?" he questioned.

He asked the N-league to explain to the public under what terms and conditions the position of governor Sindh has been given to MQM-P. He claimed that the two mainstream parties had an understanding that Sindh's governor will either belong to PML-N or to the PPP.
