The future of Royal Lodge remains uncertain as King Charles increases pressure on Prince Andrew to vacate the expansive property.

Speculation has arisen that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie, may move into the royal residence if Andrew leaves. The couple currently reside at Bagshot Park, a Grade II-listed building with 120 rooms, where they have lived since their wedding in 1999.

Royal author Gareth Russell spoke to GB News about the potential new residents for Royal Lodge. He mentioned that while the logical choice might be the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate seem content at Adelaide Cottage. "They've shown relatively little interest in moving home again," Russell noted, adding that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh could be a suitable alternative.

Adelaide Cottage, located in Windsor Great Park, is currently home to William, Kate, and their three children. The property is set up as a family house without live-in staff, which aligns with the couple’s preference. Moving to Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion, would necessitate accommodating domestic staff, which William and Kate have resisted.

Russell also suggested that the move could be part of King Charles's broader strategy to slim down the royal property portfolio. "It may be that Royal Lodge is just put to different use once Prince Andrew leaves," he said.
