LAHORE:

Valuables worth millions of rupees were gutted after a fire broke out in a medicine warehouse situated in Gulberg-II area on Wednesday.

The warehouse was established at an open area in an under construction building.

The oxygen gas cylinders and medicine were stored here. In the morning at quarter past nine, a fire broke out due to the unknown reason.

Due to presence of highly combustion-able material, it turned into the huge fire engulfing the whole building. Nearby people called rescue teams.

Fire fighters reached the spot on information and launched the operation. A rescue officer said that as the oxygen gas cylinders were present, as the rescuers would control fire, it would ignite again because of explosion of a cylinder.

Finally, after hectic efforts, the fire was controlled at around 12 past 30 pm.

Another fire incident was reported in Hassan Marque near Police Lines Macloed Road. No loss of life or injury was reported in these incidents.
