Kendrick Lamar, a luminary in the world of hip-hop, is once again at the forefront of the Grammy conversation with his latest single, "Not Like Us".

The song, which has soared to become one of the year's biggest hits, is currently eligible for Grammy consideration, according to Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason, Jr.

In a recent interaction with TMZ on June 24, Mason expressed optimism about the track's prospects at the upcoming awards.

"Obviously, it's a hot record, it's amazing artistry," he remarked, praising the song's composition and Lamar's lyrical prowess.

Given Lamar's favorable history with the Academy — boasting 17 wins out of 50 nominations — Mason sees no barriers to another successful run.

The song, which features pointed accusations and verbal prowess, has raised questions about its boldness for Grammy standards.

However, Mason reassured that the Academy voters are ultimately swayed by "greatness," a quality he believes Lamar embodies fully.

"That's a relevant record," Mason added, noting its significant impact.

"It's impactful on so many levels. I like to believe the Academy members recognize that."

The discussion also briefly touched upon the intriguing possibility of a "diss" category at the Grammys.

While Mason laughed off the suggestion, he did not dismiss it outright, teasing, "Anything is possible."

Lamar's rivalry with Drake has also added a layer of intrigue to his Grammy prospects. Drake's "Family Matters" attempted to critique Lamar's style with a line that ironically posits Lamar as an immediate Grammy favorite. This year, that lyrical prophecy might just become a reality, highlighting Lamar's continued resonance and dominance in the music industry.
