Travis Scott, the renowned American rapper, was arrested early Thursday morning at Miami Beach Marina on suspicion of disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
The incident, which involved an altercation on a yacht, led to police intervention around 01:45 local time, as per the Miami Beach Police Department.
The 33-year-old artist, legally known as Jacques Bermon Webster, was reportedly involved in a dispute on the vessel, which escalated to the point where police were summoned due to reports of fighting.
Upon their arrival, officers encountered Scott shouting at other individuals on the yacht, with a noticeable odor of alcohol on his breath.
Police instructed Scott to vacate the dock, which he initially complied with while continuing to shout obscenities at those aboard the yacht.
However, mere minutes later, he attempted to return to the scene.
His disregard for police commands and erratic behavior led to his arrest, as he caused a disturbance among local residents.
Following his detention, Scott admitted to consuming alcohol, casually remarking, "It's Miami." His attorney, Bradford Cohen, stated, "Mr. Scott was briefly detained due to a misunderstanding. There was absolutely no physical altercation involved, and we thank the authorities for working with us towards a swift and amicable resolution."
Travis Scott is a 10-time Grammy Award nominee and a significant figure in the hip-hop world. He is known for his relationship with celebrity Kylie Jenner, with whom he has two children.
His professional life continues to be eventful, with a European tour set to begin in the Netherlands on June 28, and performances scheduled in London and Manchester in July.
Scott's career has not been without controversy; in 2021, a tragic crowd surge during his Astroworld festival in Houston led to the deaths of 10 fans.
While he faced no criminal charges, several civil cases are ongoing.
Last year, Scott achieved his first UK number one album with "Utopia," released shortly after a highly anticipated performance at Egypt’s pyramids was canceled.
