Nine arrested for violating ban on swimming in sea

Despite the ban imposed by the Commissioner of Karachi on swimming in the sea, citizens continued to violate the orders. On the third day of Eidul Azha, a young man drowned while swimming at Sandspit Beach. Edhi life guards were searching the drowned person till late. His body was recovered late in the night.

Edhi spokesperson said that four people drowned in the sea, of which three were rescued while one young man was still missing.

Meanwhile, police have started taking action against those who violating the swimming ban and arrested nine persons.

SHO Mauripur Kamran Haider told The Express Tribune that the young man who drowned has been identified as 21-year-old Shehryar Aftab Rajput, a resident of Liaquatabad,

The SHO said that cases have been registered against the arrested persons. He appealed the citizens to avoid going in the sea, as the Sindh government has imposed section 144 on swimming due to high tide.
