Police register murder case of Rescue 1122 ex-DG

Police have registered a case for the murder of Rescue 1122’s former director general, Brigadier (retd) Ameer Hamza, who was shot dead in the limits of Lillah police station in the Jhelum district of Rawalpindi.

The case was registered under the provisions of murder and attempted murder. The victim's wife and daughter were also seriously injured in the incident.

According to the police, a case has been filed against four unidentified persons for the murder of Hamza. Muhammad Ayub, the victim's brother and the Principal of Commerce College, lodged the complaint.

According to the FIR, the deceased was a resident of Bhera. Ayub recalled the day his brother, Hamza, embarked on a journey to Chakwal with his family to celebrate Eidul Azha with their other daughter. His wife, Safia, and daughter, Muskan, accompanied him while he was travelling to Toba on a motorcycle with his cousin, trailing behind Hamza's car at a distance. "As we approachedLillah Interchange, my brother's car slowed down, and suddenly, four armed men on two motorcycles appeared, surrounding the vehicle. They opened fire, killing my brother and injuring his family members.”

After the shooting, the armed men approached Hamza's car and consoled them that the Hamza was no more and sped away while firing. With the help of Rescue 1122, Ayub’s injured sister-in-law, niece, and brother were rushed to the hospital. "The motive behind this crime remains unknown; I demand that the unknown accused be brought to justice and held accountable for their cruel act."

The police officials said a case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is underway.
