MAILSI:

Police have arrested a woman and and a man for the murder of her husband, which they tried to disguise as a heart attack.

The arrests were announced by DSP Mailsi Saeed Ahmed Sial during a press conference alongside SHO Metru Police Station Rao Muhammad Salman and Sub-Inspector Rang Elahi on Wednesday.

Police said that two months ago, Muhammad Asif, a labourer from Chak 271-WB and father of three children, was strangled to death by his wife, Sarah Bibi, and Adnan Riaz.

The suspects allegedly broke Asif's neck and then spread the word that he had died of a heart attack.

Police became suspicious of the circumstances and ordered a post-mortem examination, which revealed a fractured neck bone.

On the complaint of the victim's father, Muhammad Manzoor, a murder case was registered. Police traced and arrested Adnan in Rawalpindi and Sarah in Lodhran.

DSP Sial said the investigation revealed that the suspects had come into contact through social media and developed a relationship. On the day of the incident, Asif allegedly caught them in a compromising position, after which they strangled him to death.

Police say all evidence against the accused will be presented in court.
