One missing, three rescued at Hawksbay despite swimming ban

Maripur police arrest nine individuals for swimming in the sea

Despite the ban imposed by the Karachi Commissioner, citizens continue to swim in the sea. On the third day of Eid ul Adha, a young man went missing after drowning at Hawksbay. Edhi Foundation volunteers and lifeguards are conducting a rescue operation to locate him.

According to an Edhi Foundation spokesperson, four people had drowned while swimming in the sea, three of whom were rescued in time. Action is being taken against those violating the swimming ban, with Maripur police arresting nine individuals for swimming in the sea.

SHO Maripur Kamran Haider told Express News that the missing youth, identified as 21-year-old Shaheer, son of Aftab Rajput, was a resident of Liaquatabad’s Azam Square in the jurisdiction of Sharifabad police station. He had come to Hawksbay for a picnic with friends and went missing due to the high waves while swimming.

The SHO stated that Maripur police had arrested nine individuals swimming in the sea, with six cases registered against them under Section 188.

The Sindh government has enforced Section 144, prohibiting swimming in the sea. The high waves currently make the coast dangerous, posing a risk to citizens.
