Justin Timberlake arrested for DWI in New York

The pop star was arrested for driving while intoxicated in New York, TMZ reports.

Justin Timberlake has been arrested in New York for driving while intoxicated, according to TMZ. 

A spokesperson from the Sag Harbor Police Department confirmed that the singer is currently in custody. While the SHPD did not provide further details, TMZ verified the DWI charge.

As of now, Timberlake remains in custody but is expected to post bail soon. Sources say he had dinner with friends at a hotel in Sag Harbor on Monday night. 

Around 12:30 AM, he got into his car to return to his accommodation and was pulled over shortly after.

Timberlake, the singer of 'SexyBack,' is set to be arraigned in a New York court at 9 AM this morning, according to a court clerk's confirmation to The Sun.

A source close to Timberlake indicated that the incident stemmed from a traffic violation, but the police clarified that they do not arrest individuals for minor traffic offences.

Timberlake is currently on tour, with upcoming shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Chicago.
