Mystery surrounds deaths in Clifton's Bin Qasim Park after bodies discovered in pond
The bodies of a man and a woman were recovered from a murky pond in Clifton's Bin Qasim Park on Tuesday.
The discovery was made by park staff on the second day of Eid ul Adha who thern alerted the police.
Boat Basin Police Station responded and the Crime Scene Unit was summoned to the scene.
Police successfully retrieved the bodies from the pond and transferred them to Jinnah Hospital, for further identification and postmortem examination.
The bodies were later shifted to the Chhipa morgue over failure of identification due to advanced decomposition.
According to SHO Boat Basin, Inspector Nasir Tanoli, the bodies of the deceased man and woman appeared to be one or two days old. They bore insect bites.
The MLOs initial report suggested that the pond water contained toxins, that led to the unfortunate demise of the victims through drowning.
Inspector Tanoli confirmed that no belongings were found with the bodies that could aid in their identification.
The police have initiated efforts to gather evidence from the crime scene and have started searching for the relatives of the deceased individuals.
The Boat Basin Police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident or the identities of the victims to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
