Pakistani actor Kubra Khan has a straightforward message for the men of Pakistan: take a cue from Korean dramas and step up your game. While promoting her new film Abhi, Kubra didn’t mince words about the chasm between Pakistani and Korean dramas. She praised Korean male protagonists for their empathy, affection, and grand romantic gestures.

“These Korean drama guys,” Kubra mused, “They take something small and turn it into this big romantic gesture. This is what we want, why can’t we get it here?” The Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay actor also revealed that the men in these dramas are the reason her expectations have become extremely high.

In a candid PSA for Fuchsia Magazine, Kubra gazed into the camera and implored, “Men of Pakistan, please watch Korean dramas and learn something from those men—the good ones!” She continued, “How to be empathetic, how to be loving, and how to show love.” It’s clear she wants more than just the typical stoic hero; she’s looking for someone who brings the fireworks.

The Sinf-e-Aahan actor also revealed that the first Korean drama she watched was Dream High because of a crush she had on the lead actor, Taec-yeon. “He was so gorgeous, and when his drama came out, I watched it because of him,” said Kubra. She then recalled how she moved on to Kim Soo-hyun when Netflix released the hit series, Crash Landing on You.

One Pakistani man who might just be able to compete with Kubra’s admiration for Korean men is cricketer, Naseem Shah. Amidst the T20 World Cup fervour, the actor admitted in another interview, “I’m loving Naseem Shah recently, I think he is a great addition to the team. Also, not just with cricket, I like him overall as a person as well.”
