Maika Monroe teases It Follows sequel, says it's 'Bigger, Darker, and More F***ed Up'
Maika Monroe is set to return to the horror genre with the upcoming sequel to 2014's "It Follows". The actress, who starred as Jay Height in the original film, has been teasing the new movie and promising that it will be a thrilling ride.
"I think where you'll meet Jay at this point is maybe not what's expected, but it's so cool," Monroe told Collider. "It's just, of course, as everyone says for sequels, literally, though, is just bigger and darker and more f***ed up. Reading it was the craziest thing ever."
Monroe praised the film's writer and director, David Robert Mitchell, saying that he is "brilliant" and that the movie has "transformed" since she first signed on. She also expressed her excitement to work with Mitchell again, saying that it will be a "fulfilling" experience.
The sequel, which will be produced by Neon and Good Fear Content, is expected to begin filming in 2024. Monroe has been busy since the original "It Follows" was released, appearing in a number of other horror films, including "The Guest", "Greta", "Villains", "Watcher", "Significant Other", and the upcoming "Longlegs"
