Education dept greenlights summer camps
In response to the demands of the All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association, the Punjab School Education Department has allowed private schools, colleges, and universities to hold summer camps during the summer vacations, ranging from class one to intermediate levels.
This decision has been met with joy among private school administrators.
A notification has been issued outlining the guidelines for these summer camps. According to the notification, attendance at the summer camps is not mandatory for students and parental consent is required for student registration. The summer camps will operate during two specific time slots.
The school management is responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted indoors within the classrooms.
The school administration must provide essential facilities, including sanitation, clean and cold drinking water, fans, appropriate seating arrangements, and backup power in case of load shedding.
Furthermore, the school management will ensure that participants bring healthy and fresh food items to the camp.
A first aid box equipped with necessary supplies should also be available at all times. Students attending the summer camps will be exempt from wearing uniforms. However, they are encouraged to wear light-coloured, loose-fitting clothes and hats to protect themselves from the sun.
The summer camps will focus on skills such as IT, robotics, and other skill-based activities, alongside coaching in various sports. Heads of public schools are also encouraged to establish coaching camps for sports like hockey, football, volleyball, or any other sport.
