Sharjeel praises ‘people-friendly’ budget

KARACHI:

Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has heaped praise on Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for presenting a "historic and people-friendly budget" for the upcoming financial year.

Speaking to the media at the Sindh Assembly, Sharjeel claimed that the budget focuses on providing maximum relief to the public, stressing its significance in addressing pressing issues, including the housing needs of flood victims and the solarisation of rural areas.

The budget sets the minimum wage for labourers at Rs37,000, reflecting a commitment to improve the economic conditions of workers. Sharjeel stressed the importance of prioritising the salaried class and announced special projects for Karachi, aligning with the PPP's mandate following the recent elections.The senior minister provided insight into the ongoing initiatives, such as the construction of 2.1 million houses for flood victims and advancements in the health sector, including the Hari Card initiative and expansions to the Benazir Income Support Program.
