KARACHI:

Key roads in Karachi remained blocked for hours on Wednesday morning due to a protest by lawyers, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The protest was sparked by allegations from lawyers that a truck driver had been assaulted by the police. Later, according to media reports, lawyers announced to end their protest.

The affected areas included Sharae Faisal, Baloch Colony Flyover, Korangi Causeway, Korangi Industrial Area, Qayyumabad Road, National Highway, Korangi Road, Sunset Boulevard, Punjab Chowrangi, Gizri Road, Clifton Bridge, and DHA Phase I. Protesting truckers parked their trailers and tankers to block the roads, leading to long queues of vehicles. Commuters were unable to reach their workplaces on time due to the route disruptions.

Traffic police advised travellers to opt for alternate routes to reach their destinations. SSP South stated that successful negotiations were held with the lawyers, leading to the conclusion of the protest. Later, the traffic flow normalised.
