In a revealing interview on ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored,’ Kevin Spacey shed light on his professional relationship with disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
This marks one of Spacey's first high-profile interviews since his own sexual misconduct allegations surfaced in 2017.
Spacey, who starred in several films produced by Weinstein, discussed his interactions with the former producer. "I knew I had a lot of arguments with him," Spacey admitted, but he was quick to clarify that he had no knowledge of Weinstein's private misconduct. "I didn’t know anything about what was going on privately."
The conversation turned to the broader impact of the #MeToo movement, which was significantly catalyzed by the revelations about Weinstein's behavior. Spacey acknowledged the importance of the movement and the rigorous investigation by journalists at The New York Times and Ronan Farrow. However, he expressed concern that the response to such allegations has sometimes been excessive. "I think it’s gone too far," Spacey stated, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach that doesn't unjustly end careers.
Spacey's own career faced significant setbacks following the allegations against him, with Netflix cutting ties and his roles in major projects being recast. Despite these challenges, Spacey has maintained his innocence and was acquitted of sexual assault charges in London in 2023, and found not liable in a 2022 New York lawsuit.
