75k farmers seek Kissan Card

Registration of seed, fertiliser dealers under way

LAHORE:

About 75,000 farmers have registered for getting the Kissan Card during the past four days, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said on Monday.

Chairing a meeting, he said the Chief Minister Punjab Kissan Card registration portal is active round the clock.

He said 750 seed and 800 fertiliser dealers had been registered to provide quality agricultural inputs to the farmers through the card.

The official said the registration process for 10,000 fertiliser and seed dealers would be completed by June 30.

He said 500,000 farmers would benefit from the scheme with the cooperation of the agriculture department and Bank of Punjab.

Under the scheme, each farmer can get an
interest-free agricultural loan.

The provincial secretary said Rs300 billion in interest-free agricultural loans will be provided to the farmers
through the Kissan Card that will make quality fertilisers and seeds available to the farmers at fixed prices.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of NADRA, agriculture and other relevant departments.
