KARACHI:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh has said that a silent martial law has been imposed in the country and the right to freedom of expression has been taken away.

"We don't need anyone's certificate of patriotism, we are standing with the PTI founder for the nation," he said while talking to the media at the Sindh High Court.

Sheikh said that we visit courts every day. "We had gone to Peshawar on an invitation, where a party meeting and convention were held against which a case of sedition was filed against him in which false allegations have been made."

He said that PTI members will stand for truth and freedom even if hundreds of cases were framed against them. Previously, FIRs were registered in other provinces, and now an FIR has been registered against in Balochistan.

Earlier, a hearing was held in the Sindh High Court regarding the case filed against Shaikh and others in the Bostan police station of Pishin district of Balochistan. The lawyer for the petitioner, Barrister Ali Tahir, argued that only the federal government has the authority to file a case under the treason provisions. "We want to face the charges in the relevant court."

The court approved Sheikh's protective bail and ordered him to deposit a surety bond of Rs25,000 and appear in the concerned court in Quetta within two weeks.
