The age-old debate of who would win in a fight between Jon Snow from Game of Thrones and Daemon Targaryen from House of the Dragon has been reignited by Matt Smith, the actor who portrays Daemon.

In a recent appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show, Smith confidently proclaimed that Daemon would emerge victorious, citing his character's dragon as a decisive advantage.

"I've got a dragon," Smith quipped. "I have a lot of respect for Jon Snow. Jon Snow is a bad boy, don't get me wrong... but don't get it twisted, I will f*** those brothers up."

Smith's Daemon Targaryen was introduced in 2022's House of the Dragon as a complex and ruthless character. He quickly earned a reputation for defying authority, engaging in morally questionable behaviour, and displaying exceptional combat prowess. Jon Snow, on the other hand, is known for his bravery, leadership, and dragon-riding abilities.

Despite Smith's unwavering confidence in Daemon's victory, fans have expressed differing opinions. Some argue that Jon Snow's plot armour, a term used to describe a character's seemingly inexplicable ability to survive dangerous situations, would protect him even from a dragon's fury. Others point out that Jon Snow himself is a skilled dragon rider, potentially levelling the playing field.

While the hypothetical fight between Jon Snow and Daemon Targaryen remains a subject of fan speculation, the return of Daemon in House of the Dragon season 2 is eagerly anticipated. The upcoming season will continue to explore the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, with Daemon playing a pivotal role.

House of the Dragon season 2 premieres on HBO and Sky on June 16.
