Rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds continued in Sanghar and its surrounding areas on Friday. Heavy rainfall and stormy winds were reported in the regions of Khipro, Sinjhoro, Jhol, and Chotiariyon.
Electricity supply disappeared with the first drop of rain. The strong winds caused shop shutters, solar panels, and makeshift roofs to be blown away, although no casualties were reported.
Nawabshah
In Nawabshah and its surrounding cities, including Daur, Bucheri, Sakrand, Qazi Ahmed, and Daulatpur, intermittent light rain with strong winds brought relief from the heat. Faces wilted by the heat brightened up. Billboards and weak trees were knocked down. Despite efforts by the HESCO staff to restore electricity, power remained out in many areas for over 36 hours.
In Tando Adam and its vicinity, thunderstorms and rain broke the intense heat. Details reveal that as evening approached, a series of thunderstorms and strong winds swept through the area, leading to a pleasant change in the weather. However, power outages ensued, plunging the city into darkness.
Shahpur Chakar
For the second consecutive day, Shahpur Chakar and its surrounding areas experienced dust storms and thunderstorms with heavy rain. Water accumulated on streets, alleys, and markets.
Due to absence of pre-rain cleaning by the municipal committee, water started entering homes and shops. Power was cut off by HESCO, and strong winds blew away solar panels from rooftops and signboards from shops.
Farmers reported severe damage to mango orchards. The lack of electricity disrupted daily life, but the rain brought a significant drop in temperature and made the weather pleasant.
Hyderabad
In Hyderabad, the severe heat persisted. Reports indicate that on Friday, the sun intensified its heat from the morning, increasing the humidity and discomfort. Traffic on the roads was lighter than usual, and many residents stayed indoors due to the closure of business centres on Friday.
