Minister for Information Sharjeel Inam Memon spoke to journalists at the Sindh Assembly's media corner on Friday, highlighting attempts by MQM-P to disrupt the assembly session.
Addressing the issue of street crime, Memon acknowledged the unfortunate incidents and assured that efforts are being made to control the situation. "Since the change in government, there has been a reduction in target killings," he stated, emphasizing that the loss of any precious life is a loss for everyone. However, he accused MQM-P of using the deaths of street crime victims for political gain.
"No doubt, the government is accountable for any loss of life," Memon said, "and we are doing everything possible to control the crime rate."
However, today, MQM-P MPAs chanted slogans against the government, but we must remember who was responsible for target killings, extortion, and dumping bodies in sacks in the past, Memon said.
He pointed out that MQM-P leaders often make fiery statements only to retract them and apologize later. If they have to apologize later, they should avoid making such statements in the first place. "We are responsible for maintaining peace and order in the province, and the assembly environment should not be disrupted."
Memon reiterated the government's commitment to addressing crime and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, urging a more constructive and less disruptive approach in the assembly.
