ISLAMABAD:

Bandits struck parts of the federal capital, injured a trader and deprived citizens of cash and valuables worth millions of rupees in the last two days.

Among the victims was a man, who was robbed of Rs1.8 million meant for his sister’s marriage, and others who lost seven motorcycles and five cell phones.

Two robbers, pretending to be the customers, entered City Jewellers in G 9/4 in the limits of the Karachi Company police and started looking at jewellery sets and earrings. One of the suspects suddenly pulled out a weapon and started a looting spree. The shopkeeper repeatedly hit the calculator on his showcase with force, alerting the shopkeepers of adjacent shops. After seeing a couple of people arriving in the shop, the suspects came out of the shop while firing. The firing left a shopkeeper named Qasim injured.

Two robbers approached Saddam Hussain in the Swan Garden area of the Lohi Bhir police station and snatched Rs1.8m. The victim told the police that he came from Saudi Arabia to his relatives' home in Swan Garden from where he along with his relatives Abdullah and Mumtaz went to Saddar to change the Saudi currency. As their car reached the doorstep in F-Block of Sawan Garden, two motorcyclists approached them and looted cash, wallet and necessary documents at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested one of the suspects who fled after snatching two iPhone Promax mobile phone sets from an American couple four days ago.
