Installation of 153 bullet, dome, and mini dome surveillance cameras begins

The installation of new security cameras at Mazar-e-Quaid has started. As many as 153 new 5 megapixel bullet, dome, and mini dome surveillance cameras will be installed at the mausoleum of the founder of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

These will be over and above the 48 dome cameras already installed on the premises. After the installation of the new devices, the number of security cameras will reach 201. Moreover, new walkthrough gates will also be installed at the two entrances to Mazar-e-Quaid, namely Baab-e-Tanzeem and Baab-e-Ittihad.

The installation of the new cameras on the mausoleum which is spread over an area of 61 acres is aimed at improving its security. Forty-eight cameras are already installed at Mazar-e-Quaid, through which the entire premises, including external and internal doors, and gardens are monitored. However, the new cameras will make it possible to monitor the security of Mazar-e-Quaid from every angle.

According to Mazar-e-Quaid Resident Engineer Abdul Aleem Sheikh, the modern bullet cameras are 5 megapixels while the dome and mini dome cameras are 4 megapixels. Apart from these cameras, other devices such as DVR, hard disk connected with cameras are also being replaced.

At the Mazar-e-Quaid, security personnel and other law enforcement agencies are on duty round-the-clock in the monitoring room connected to the cameras. The two gates of the mausoleum are used by visitors where seven walkthroughs are installed. Two more walkthroughs are being put up there.

The number of visitors at Mazar-e-Quaid increases on national days as compared to normal days. With the installation of these additional walkthroughs, visitors can be screened in a better way.
