The timely action of the Motorway Police near the Chach Interchange of M-1 foiled the attempt to smuggle a huge consignment of drugs from Peshawar to Rawalpindi. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects and recovery of more than 153 kilogrammes of drugs worth millions of rupees from their possession.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police said a vehicle coming from Peshawar was stopped and searched on the basis of suspicion and drugs were found in its hidden compartments. The Motorway Police handcuffed the two suspects in the vehicle and conducted a thorough search of the vehicle during which a total of more than 153 kilogrammes of drugs were recovered from the secret compartments, including more than 117 kilogrammes of hashish and 36 kilogrammes of opium.

According to a preliminary investigation, the accused were smuggling drugs from Peshawar to Rawalpindi. The spokesperson said after completing the preliminary legal proceedings, the suspects and the recovered drugs worth millions of rupees were handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Attock.

The spokesperson further said that the initial prosecution against the accused would be by the Motorway Police while the case would be registered by the ANF. The accused will be produced in the court and further investigation will be conducted afterwards.
