Pakistan Railways is set to bolster accessibility by installing escalators at major railway stations for specially-abled individuals.
Chief Executive Officer and Senior General Manager, Amir Ali Baloch, announced this initiative during an e-court session, addressing public concerns on Wednesday.
Baloch outlined a series of measures aimed at enhancing passenger experiences, including fare reductions to ease financial burdens. He underscored a zero-tolerance policy towards overcharging, pledging strict legal action against violators.
In addressing health concerns, Baloch announced stringent measures to enforce a smoking ban on trains, ensuring a smoke-free environment. He directed divisional officers to ensure clean water availability and shaded seating areas, especially during summer.
Acknowledging reports of beggars and unauthorized vendors on trains, Baloch vowed strict action against those responsible. He clarified that no bank has authority to withhold railway employee salaries, with ongoing efforts to eliminate payment delays.
Addressing limited parking space at Rahim Yar Khan station, Baloch instructed officers to ensure unblocked parking and improved passenger conveniences.
Plans for installing CCTV cameras on trains were also mentioned, with mechanisms to prevent equipment damage.
During the e-court session, which received over ten thousand comments, Baloch reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing railway service and efficiently addressing public grievances.
