John Lennon’s rare guitar up for auction

The iconic guitar hits the auction block today, expected to fetch millions.

A guitar previously owned and played by Beatles member John Lennon is scheduled to be auctioned, garnering significant attention.

The Framus 12-string Hootenanny guitar, which resided in a rural attic in England for over five decades, is expected to fetch at least $1 million.

According to the Mirror, the instrument was utilized by Lennon and fellow bandmate George Harrison during the recording sessions of the Beatles' albums 'Help!' and 'Rubber Soul,' notably appearing on tracks such as "You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away," "Norwegian Wood," and "Girl."

The Mirror further reports that the guitar was allegedly gifted by Lennon to musician Gordon Waller of the pop duo Peter and Gordon.

Its authenticity was verified through thorough examination and consultation with experts in Beatles history.

Presently, the historic guitar is slated for auction by Julien's Auctions at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York on May 29 and 30, commencing with a starting bid of $150,000, which is expected to escalate to $1 million.

The auction is anticipated to be a significant event in music memorabilia sales, with the potential sale price rivaling the record set by Lennon's Gibson J160E guitar, which sold for $2.4 million in 2015.
