Beatriz Simões, a devoted Taylor Swift fan, got engaged during the Eras Tour stop in Lisbon, Portugal.

While live streaming the show for her online friends, her boyfriend Ricardo Matos got down on one knee during the iconic song ‘Love Story,’ proposing with a ring and a perfect recreation of the song's lyrics.

“It was a total surprise,” Simões told PEOPLE. “I'm still in total shock. It was magical, and everyone was so happy.”

The couple, together for three years after meeting five years ago, currently lives in Porto, Portugal. Matos' proposal was timed with the eighth song of the 46-song setlist.

“He kept singing the song and I was just ugly crying and hugged him,” Simões said, sharing a one-minute clip of the heartwarming moment with PEOPLE.

Unaware of the unfolding proposal in section 3, Taylor Swift continued belting out the song while Matos lip-synced along to the proposal lyrics.

Another concertgoer, Keren Noyman, captured the proposal from a different angle. “I felt jealous because I went with my boyfriend of eight years last time and got no proposal,” Noyman jokingly admitted to PEOPLE.

“But seriously, it was super exciting to watch it happen in person. They were insanely cute!”

The night held another special surprise for the newly engaged couple. During the concert's surprise song segment, Swift performed an acoustic mashup that held particular significance for Simões and Matos.

“One of the surprise songs was 'Come Back…Be Here,' which was one of our songs when we did long-distance [for two years],” Simões said.

Fans watching Simões' live stream worldwide were not only surprised by the proposal but also by her decision to continue streaming.

“She's still live-streaming after the proposal,"” remarked Elisa Gioia, an Italian fan, on X (formerly Twitter).

Later, Gioia described the experience to PEOPLE as “so romantic” and expressed feeling like part of a big family.

The couple also spoke about their future plans. “We're gonna take it easy, but we expect to move to a big house with our cat next year so we can start our journey,” revealed Simões, whose feline companion is named Tijolo.
