Rachel Zegler is cast as Juliet, while Kit Conner portrays Romeo in the Broadway adaptation of Shakespeare's renowned tragedy, "Romeo and Juliet."
The first look at the performance is presented in Bleachers' music video for "Tiny Moves," featuring Connor and Zegler in a suburban montage.
In the music video, the duo is spotted laughing, dancing, and embodying the essence of typical teenagers. If the new R+J is set in the suburbs, it could tap into classic teenage hangouts like 24-hour gas stations and basement parties—a nod to Shakespeare's original vibe.
This serves as a sort of homecoming dance for Zegler. She rose to fame after portraying a rendition of Juliet in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.
The show will showcase music composed by Bleachers' Jack Antonoff. Let's trust he's familiar with the source material and hasn't solely relied on his frequent collaborator Taylor Swift's rendition in "Love Story."
Directed by Sam Gold, renowned for his work on "Fun Home," and featuring choreography by Sonya Tayeh, known for her contributions to "Moulin Rouge!," the production will begin previews on September 26 and officially open on October 24 at Circle in the Square.
