Kelly Rowland scolds security guard at Cannes 2024 red carpet

The Former Destiny's Child member's response came weeks after she walked out on a Today show appearance.

Kelly Rowland was photographed seemingly scolding a security guard while making her way down the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

The 43-year-old singer was at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday, May 21 to attend the premiere of the French film Marcello Mio.

As Kelly ascended the renowned steps at the festival, she seemed to become involved in a verbal altercation with a security personnel who gestured with her arm to guide her into the venue.

Clearly expressing her disapproval, Kelly, who looked enraged, raised her finger to reprimand the woman in front of the gathered crowd.

The security guard appeared to frantically respond to Kelly, who even turned back to continue her tirade as she made her way up the rest of the steps.

Kelly's response occurred just weeks after she walked out on an appearance on the Today show in February.

Reports suggested that Kelly opted out of co-hosting the remainder of the Today show with anchor Hoda Kotb allegedly due to her dissatisfaction with her dressing room, prompting Rita Ora to fill in at the last minute.

Nevertheless, according to sources, it has been suggested that Kelly left the show because she felt she was treated disrespectfully by Hoda's co-host, Savannah Guthrie, who reportedly asked questions about Beyoncé instead of focusing on the topic Kelly was there to discuss—her new film, Mea Culpa.

The dressing room explanation was seemingly reiterated by Hoda herself, who extended an invitation to Rowland to share her dressing room next time she appears on the show.

According to an insider speaking to The Wrap, Rowland and her team are unwilling to participate in interviews that delve into questions about Beyoncé and Destiny's Child, as she aims to put that chapter behind her and focus on advancing her career.

Another insider informed the outlet that Rowland departed due to the inadequate dressing room facilities.

Rowland's team was unable to secure a different dressing room for her, as another one upstairs was reportedly occupied by Jennifer Lopez, as per The Daily Mail.

Before her altercation with security, Kelly walked the red carpet in a custom red strapless Loewe gown adorned with a long train. She posed for photographs at the event, pairing her look with a diamond necklace and clutch bag.
