KAGHAN:

The official tourism season in Kaghan Valley commenced on Thursday with the reopening of the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) Road that was blocked after heavy snowfall in winter.

According to sources, the personnel of Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) reopened the key road linking K-P to Gilgit Baltistan, using heavy machinery to remove debris and mudslides along the eight-kilometre stretch of road.

Meanwhile, officials said the ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring a smooth and safe travel experience for tourists flocking to explore the serene landscapes and attractions of Kaghan Valley.

According to sources from the Kaghan Development Authority, the jeep road leading to Saiful Mulook Lake is expected to be fully cleared within the next five to six days. This development is poised to attract a surge of tourists eager to immerse themselves in the breathtaking vistas and tranquillity that Kaghan Valley offers, thereby rejuvenating the region's tourism sector.

Moreover, the district administration has given clearance for locals and visitors to travel to Naran, the renowned tourist destination that had been inaccessible for months due to snow and rains blocking the MNJ road since November. Deputy Commissioner Adnan Khan Bhittani highlighted ongoing efforts to restore the MNJ road for seamless transportation between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan within a week.

Bhittani noted significant progress in clearing heavy landslides in the Ghanool area, with efforts underway to ensure access to Saiful Muluk Lake in the coming days. To enhance the visitor experience, the administration has implemented security measures, including operational police posts from Kaghan to Babusar Top, aimed at providing a safe and enjoyable journey for tourists.
